Garin Elementary School, the second elementary school established in Brentwood, will celebrate its 40th birthday this year with a special party for students, staff and alumni on Friday, April 30 from 4 to 8 p.m.

The event features a barbecue dinner and other refreshments, celebratory activities and games, and a historical display outlining Garin’s past. Former Garin teacher Wanda Groseclose and students from her 1984 fifth-grade class will provide a blast from the past as they open a time capsule the students buried 26 years ago.

Event organizers are in search of alumni willing to donate pictures for the historical display and speak at the event. If you have any information to share about Garin and its history, e-mail info@garinparentsclub.com. If you would like to speak during the alumni ceremony, e-mail Garin Principal Stacy Joslin at sjoslin@brentwood.k12.ca.us.

Garin’s 40th Birthday Bash will take place on the Garin campus, 250 First St. in Brentwood. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Garin Parents Club to support Garin programs.
