The monthly Open Mic event held at Gabby’s Grind in Brentwood welcomes all forms of literary expression. But since April is Poetry Month, Open Mic’s April installment will encourage participants to share works of poetry. The meeting takes place Thursday, April 8 at 6:30 p.m.

All short work – poetry, short story, nonfiction, or any other creative work – is welcome. Any subject is acceptable, as long as it is neither insulting nor abusive. Bring your own or the work of another writer. Everyone is invited, whether performing or just listening and enjoying. Open Mic especially encourages students of all ages to attend. The event is free and open to the public, and refreshments will be available for purchase.

Hosted by Brentwood’s Poet Laureate, Diane Lando, Open Mic is presented by Brentwood Writers’ Guild – an adjunct of the Brentwood Art Society – and the Brentwood Community Library.

Gabby’s Grind is located at 729 First St., Suite C. For further information, e-mail shortkati@yahoo.com or call 925-634-6655.
