Editor:

My name is Carl Smith and I am a member of Boy Scout Troop 93 in Brentwood. I recently received my Eagle Scout rank and my Court of Honor will be Sunday April 11.

I wanted to personally thank my parents and the others who supported my Eagle Scout Leadership Project. My project was to design and install a memorial bench at Liberty High School in honor of Tyler Toal.

First I would like to thank Principal Halloran, Mrs. Foster and the maintenance staff for their support of the project. I would like to thank Tyler’s family for all they did to help me over the last year. I need to recognize Swisher Cement and the Swisher family for their generous support of the project.

Many friends and community members made donations: Jacque Long, Kelli and Stan Nunn; Jose Martinez – State Farm Insurance; Mark and Francis Prochaska; Drs. Wendy and Doug Herman; Jeannie and Phil Russick; Doug Burkhart – Smith and Dennison Construction Company; David Perez – Citigroup; my grandmother, Greta Willin; and my parents, Joni and Kirby Smith.

My project was also funded by a car wash that many of the scouts in my troop helped with. I could not have done this without the adult leaders and scouts in my troop.
