Stroke is the third leading cause of death in the United States and a leading cause of permanent disability. A full 80 percent of stroke victims experience no apparent warning signs prior to their stroke. A preventative ultrasound screening, however, can help you avoid a stroke. Screenings are fast, noninvasive, painless, affordable and convenient.

Golden Hills Community Church, 2401 Shady Willow Lane in Brentwood, will host a Life Line Screening on May 17. The screening will identify potential cardiovascular conditions such as blocked arteries, irregular heartbeats, abdominal aortic aneurysms and hardening of the arteries. A bone-density screening to assess osteoporosis risk will also be available for men and women.

The Life Line Screening packages start at $139. The five screenings take between 60 and 90 minutes to complete. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call 877-237-1287 or visit www.lifelinescreening.com. Pre-registration is required.
