I am the mother of Lauren Scott, an almost 13-year-old EHMS student battling a rare form of soft tissue sarcoma. The reason for this letter is to send out thanks to everyone who has been supporting our family through this difficult battle.

Thank you to Lauren’s East Diablo United soccer team (and parents) for the meals they brought over starting in December and continue even now. A special thanks to Veronica Rinehart, our team mom. She has been organizing the meal calendar in addition to many different benefits to help with Lauren’s medical bills, including bake sales and a car wash.

Thank you to Ms. Sue Lackey, Lauren’s fourth-grade teacher from Brentwood Elementary, who made the Red Cross blood drives happen. She is an awesome person and supportive in so many ways. We were told this was one of the biggest turnouts for Brentwood. Thanks to everyone who showed up to give blood in honor of Lauren. It was amazing to see you all there.

Thank you to Kristine Stoker for coming into our lives when we obviously needed her the most. Her son Andrew has been friends with my son Tyler for a few years but we’ve really never formally met until Andrew, along with some other friends of Tyler, decided to ban together and shave their heads in support of Lauren and childhood cancer.

From that day forward, Kristine has spent countless hours organizing benefit yard sales and picking up donations from people all over Brentwood to donate for the sale. She has been there for support in so many different ways. She is our angel sent from God. She brought hope to me when I was feeling lost, and for that, words cannot thank her enough.

I have been overwhelmed with the show of love and support to our family. It means the world to us. We are so lucky to live in such a great community and have such great friends. God bless you all and thank you from our family to yours.
