The Soroptimist of East Contra Costa County recently made fleece hats for infants at the Neonatal Intensive Care Units at Children’s and John Muir hospitals.

In the photo, from left, are Nelda Devine, Bertha Ruiz, Mary Ann Smith and Delores Henderson displaying the completed hats.

The hats were contributed in memory of June Starkel-Smith. Soroptimist is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of women.

The East Contra Costa County Soroptimist meetings take place at noon the first and third Thursday of the month at Prevot’s Restaurant, 613 First St. in Brentwood.
