A large group of volunteers helped make Pioneer Elementary School’s recent Crusade for Shade a great success.

Village Nurseries of Brentwood provided 12 large trees as part of its Free Trees For Schools Program.

Finding shade on our blistering Brentwood school days can be difficult, and large shade structures can cost many thousands of dollars.

Thanks go to Pioneer’s Student Council advisors Greg Carmon and Juliet Simens, who got the ball rolling for the event.

With the help of so many students, staff, families and Cub Scouts from Pack 21, the school was able to start making the dream of shade a reality.
