The City of Antioch, in collaboration with the Antioch Riverview Garden Club, will observe National Arbor Day – Friday, April 30 – with a tree planting and refreshments at Barbara Price Marina Park, Antioch Marina at 4 p.m.

Before the hot dogs, soda and potluck goodies are dished out by Garden Club volunteers, city workers will help Cub Scouts from Troop 247 plant a sweet gum liquidamber at the Marina Shore line. City workers will also dedicate a memorial plaque for a recently deceased city employee.

In order for Antioch to maintain it’s title of Tree City USA from the National Arbor Day Foundation, the City Council is required to proclaim Arbor Day at a council meeting and hold a public Arbor Day observation. This is the eighth consecutive year that the Antioch Riverview Garden Club has partnered with the city in tree plantings at various parks around town.

Free parking for the event is available at the Humphrey’s Restaurant parking lot, Antioch Marina at foot of L Street. For further information, call the City Parks Department at 925-779-6950 or Antioch Riverview Garden Club at 925-439-4678.
