This year’s theme, It’s a Pixar Day, brought out the creativity in everyone. Entries were colorfully decked out to represent such family favorites as “Up,” “A Bug’s Life,” “Cars,” “Ratatouille,” “Wall-E” and “The Incredibles.”
“The weather was great and a good time was definitely had by all,” said Pat Anderson, event organizer. “Thanks to everyone who helped pull this all together. We couldn’t have done it alone.”
And it was also an afternoon of giving. Linda Davis, whose “Up” entry took second place, donated her replica of the “Up” house – complete with balloons –to be auctioned off for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. Discovery Bay resident Cathy Bellinghausen purchased the item for $200.
“Cathy donated $200 to the cause and then passed the house off to her daughter to be auctioned off at a school fundraiser,” said Anderson.
Boat parade awards were given out at the Discovery Bay Yacht Club after the parade, and were followed up with an afternoon of music, food and socializing.
Sponsored by the Discovery Bay Yacht Club, the parade is a family-fun event open to the public. Members and non-members alike are invited to enter their boat in the parade and enjoy an afternoon on the water.
The following are the 2010 winning entries:
Commodore’s Cup: “Cars” by Judy and Bob Clappier
First Place: “A Bug’s Life” by Allen and Cathy Bellinghausen and their crew of 25 bugs.
Second Place: “Up” by Linda and Don Davis
Third Place Tie: “Up” by Valerie Millard and Claire and John Draeger
