The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life event comes to Oakley this weekend.

Hundreds of people are expected to come out to support the quest for a cure as part of the second annual cancer-conquering fundraiser.

Oakley’s 42 teams have already raised more than $40,000 this year.

Held Freedom High School, 1050 Neroly Road, the Relay kicks off Saturday, May 1 at 9 a.m. The schedule of events includes the inspiring Survivors Lap at 9:30 a.m., the Luminaria presentation at 9 p.m. and the Closing Ceremony on Sunday morning at 8:15 a.m.
