The Brentwood Chamber of Commerce has hosted the annual Taste of Brentwood restaurant tours in the fall for years, but now the Chamber is adding a second tour, a unique walking tour of downtown Brentwood’s restaurants, including Cap’s Oak Street Bar and Grill, Brentwood’s Co. Co. Wine Company and Brentwood’s newest restaurant, The Game Sports Pub ’n Pizza.
“For years, people have been asking us why we hold the restaurant tour only once a year, so we decided to host a spring event as well,” said Brentwood Chamber of Commerce Event Coordinator Jilda Fairhurst. “To keep things different, we’ve decided to make the spring tour a walking tour of downtown restaurants, and then the fall tour will feature restaurants around town. Luckily, all the downtown restaurants were eager to participate, so people can come to downtown Brentwood and spend the afternoon walking around and sampling great food.
“This is a great event for people who just want to get an idea of what each place is like. It’s just a taste. The restaurants aren’t serving lunch. They’ll just offer a little sampling of some of the meals they offer.”
Tour goers will be able at sample Mexican cuisine at La Fuente and Sylvia’s Sabor Latino, or exotic offerings at Pho Vietnam and creamy treats at Scrumdillyumptious. Gabby’s Grind, Prevot’s Oyster Bar and Grill, and Sweeney’s Grill & Bar are also on the tour’s menu.
Guests may pick and choose which restaurants they go to, but Fairhurst said there is an incentive to visit all 10 locations. Participants who get their ticket stamped all of the tour stops may drop off their ticket to enter a drawing for a $100 cash prize.
But the real reward is the opportunity to sample a variety of delactables while getting reacquainted with downtown Brentwood.
“I encourage the community to come out and join in the fun, as there is going to some wonderful food,” said Brentwood Chamber of Commerce President Shayn Cutino. “I can’t think of a better way to enjoy our quaint downtown Brentwood than by walking around, enjoying the beautiful weather and our amazing local restaurants.
“Events like the Taste of Brentwood give local businesses the opportunity to showcase their businesses – featured restaurants as well as neighboring merchants. It also encourages individuals to come downtown and perhaps find a restaurant or retail merchant that they weren’t aware of previously. From the Chamber’s perspective by hosting events like the Taste of Brentwood, we continue to enhance our business community by contributing to a healthier economy.”
The Taste of Brentwood Spring restaurant tour, co-sponsored by the Brentwood Kiwanis Club, will take place Saturday, May 15 from 1 to 5 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person or $30 for two. Tickets may be purchased at the Chamber office, 8440 Brentwood Blvd., Suite C, Mondays through Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon. Only 300 tickets are available, so don’t delay. For more information, call 925-634-3344.
