Summer’s around the corner, and the New Lifeline Church, 4246 Empire Ave. in Oakley, is preparing to kick off the season with the annual Water Safety Day on Saturday, May 22 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The free community event is designed to provide information and education about water safety and will include representatives from the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Marine Patrol Services, U.S. Coast Guard, East Contra Costa Fire District, Antioch Water Park and the American Red Cross. The event features free food, coloring books, whistles, sunscreen, water safety handouts and more. Free life jackets will also be provided to the first 225 children up to age 5.

The event is made possible through a grant from First Five of Contra Costa County. For more information, call 925-963-9342.
