Liberty High student Jordan Standen enjoyed high-flying fun at Oakley’s recent Kite Festival, the kickoff event for the city’s Science Week activities.

Members of far East County gathered at the Laurel Ballfields to fly kites as part of the city’s annual science exploration series. Other events held this week included an up-close look at the reptile kingdom and a Mad Science presentation.

Tomorrow, May 15, the community is invited to the Oakley Library for the concluding event, “Build a Rocket With a Buddy,” from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pre-registration is required. For more information, call 925-625-7044.
