Brentwood to offer summer youth camps

The City of Brentwood Parks and Recreation Department is offering a variety of summer camps, including half-day science, sports, Lego Engineering and all-day youth camps.

Youth Day Camps for ages 6 to 11 will be held at Veterans Park from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Campers will play games, complete crafts and take trips to the Brentwood Family Aquatic Complex, the movie theater and bowling alley. Camps will be offered in June and July.

Lego Engineering Camps are offered as half-day camps June 14 through 18. Kids 5 and 6 can sign up for the morning Pre-Engineering Camp and learn how to build a town, buildings, cars, trains, race trucks and buses. For kids 7 to 12, the Engineering Fundamentals Camp, held from 1 to 4 p.m., shows them how to design and build motorized machines, demolition derby cars, bridges, and explore concepts in physics, structural engineering and architecture.

Mad Science is hosting Crazy Chemistry, World Scientists and Mad Machines and Robots camps for kids 6 to 10, and My First Lab camp for kids 3½ to 5. All are half-day camps and focus on specific science experiments and projects based on the theme of the camp.

A variety of sports camps will be offered throughout the summer, including Soccer Camps June 21 to 25 for kids 4½ to 10, hosted by Kidz Love Soccer. In June and July, Gymnastics Camps, offered at Black Diamond Kids Center, give kids 4 to 12 an opportunity to try out the trampoline, foam pit, and play games.
