The Liberty High School campus will be transformed into sets from motion pictures such as “Avatar,” “Pirates of the Caribbean” and “Iron Man” when the 21st annual Grad Night event – Shooting for the Stars – takes place Friday, June 4 at 10 p.m. through Saturday, June 5 at 5 a.m.

Grad Night has become a way for the community to share in the common goal of providing a safe and sober celebration alternative for graduating seniors, who will enjoy food and drinks throughout the night, most of which come from donations by local restaurants. Activities include casino games, sumo wrestling, DJ dancing, lip-syncing, henna tattoos, and motorized ice chest racing. Graduates may participate in a raffle for prizes such as laptop computers, GPS systems, iPods and gift cards.

The festivities conclude with a pancake breakfast compliments of the Brentwood Rotary Club.

The cost of the event is funded by donations made by the community – especially by means of the eScript program, which allows residents to earmark a portion of purchases at local businesses for school usage.

The Grad Night committee, comprising volunteer parents and community members, needs volunteers to assist with Grad Night preparations and chaperoning, plus monetary donations such as gift cards. For more information, call Laurie Johnson at 925-642-5377.
