On behalf of the Brentwood Union School District and the 2010 Odyssey of the Mind Teams, we would like to express our gratitude for the numerous individuals and businesses with contributions for our two Odysseys of the Mind teams.
We are very proud of these two teams who won their divisions at the 2010 State Odyssey of the Mind Competition and will be competing against teams from all other states and 25 other countries in the world competition to be held at Michigan State University May 25-30.
As you know, state resources for public education are limited and we continue to work hard to provide the materials necessary to enhance the classroom learning experience for our students. The children of today are our leaders of tomorrow. Our children will enter an adult world that will demand skills for many jobs that do not even exist today.
This challenges schools to instill creative problem-solving and thinking throughout their students’ educational experience. Without the support of individuals and businesses from our local communities, we would be unable to provide extended opportunities for our children.
We would like to give an extra thank-you to the following businesses that sponsored fundraisers to help send our teams to the 2010 World Finals: Scrumdillyumptious, Yogurt Pizzazz, Panda Express, Willy’s Bagels and Blends, and Rubio’s Fresh Mexican Grill. We also thank the following for sending teams to accept the challenge of “Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader?” community fundraiser event held April 29 at the Edna Hill Theatre: Brentwood Rotary Club (Team A and Team B), Veterans of Foreign Wars, Marsh Creek staff, Brentwood Elementary staff, Edna Hill staff and the BUSD board and district office.
We also thank the many individuals who made personal donations. Again, on behalf of our students and staff, we thank everyone who donated and supported this valued program for our students and to help send our teams to the 2010 World Finals.
