Firefighters of the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District will host two Fill the Boot fundraisers next month: Monday, Aug. 9 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Lone Tree Way and Empire Avenue; and Wednesday, Aug. 11 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Fairview Avenue and Balfour Road.

The Fill the Boot program, a partnership between California firefighters and worthy charitable organizations, has been working hard for the community for more than five decades.

This year’s campaign will support the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). Last year, firefighters like Jimmy Laughlin, left, raised more than $18,000 in Brentwood alone during their two-day Pass the Boot campaign to fight muscular dystrophy.
