Garin Elementary student and Brentwood resident Blake Bower, 9, recently returned from a six-week trip with his father, Dave, where Blake competed national racing events in Indiana and Texas. One of the races – the USAC second annual Mopar Battle – was held at the famous Brickyard: the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

In Indiana, Blake won the Junior Honda and the Junior Super stock championship, and placed third in the QMA nationals out of 65 cars in his class from across the United States and Canada.

In Texas, Blake raced his way into the LT 160 Main event, coming from the D Main and winning the B Main. Blake also put his senior stock in the main event.

Blake is raising funds in order to race the Winter Nationals at Primm, Nev. in November. His local sponsors are Vornhagen Body and Paint, LA Boxing – Brentwood, Delta Spine and Sportcare, USG Signs, Rice Cars, Ken’s Tires, Local 3 and Harry’s Automotive.
