The Vagabond Players will present the comedy “A Bench in the Sun” on Sunday, Sept. 19 at 2 p.m. and Wednesday, Sept. 22 at 2 p.m. in Antioch’s El Campanil Theatre, 602 W. Second St.

“A Bench in the Sun” tells the story of two seniors in a retirement home bickering about the mundane lives they lead. One is a crusty accountant who prefers to stay in his pajamas all day; the other is a debonair fellow who loves to dance.

They find a new topic of bickering – a glitzy movie star who moves into the facility. The play is written by Ron Clark, who has written for Jackie Gleason and Mel Brooks.

The Vagabond Players, Inc. is a nonprofit theater troupe that travels to senior centers, retirement homes and communities, assisted living centers and health care facilities, bringing live theater to those who might not get out to experience it.

Among the Players’ goals is to dispel myths about aging and celebrate the talents of older artists. The actors are primarily seniors.

Admission to “A Bench in the Sun” is $15 for adults: $12 for seniors and $10 for youth. For tickets and information, call 925-757-9500 or visit www.elcampaniltheatre.com.
