This letter is written in response to Jannine Nelson’s letter in last weeks Brentwood Press. Nelson attempted to discredit Carol Jackson and Walter MacVittie. I have had the pleasure of working with both these individuals on regional boards and committees. The time, skills, efforts and work ethics donated by both of them to our community are amazing.

I can honestly say that, in my opinion, the Byron Sanitary District would not be here today if it had not been for Carol Jackson’s efforts. The court contract dispute Nelson attempted to slander her with found the Sanitary District in total error.

As for Walter MacVittie, I have experienced his abilities on many boards and committees over the past 10 years and found him to be dedicated to and always have the best interest of Discovery Bay and East Contra Costa at heart.

I am ever amazed at someone like Nelson who is so quick to lash out at two people who have given so much of their personal time and energy to make our community a better place to live.
