Members of Knightsen 4-H celebrated a victory at the California State Fair last month, where the Contra Costa County display received the Silver Award in the Counties Exhibit Competition.

Thirty counties competed to showcase their most unique attributes. Knightsen 4-H leader and County Booth Coordinator Deborah Spinola designed the Contra Costa booth, top photo, to reflect the county’s rich agricultural heritage, from fresh fruits and vegetables to fine wines. In keeping with the county’s tradition of environmental sustainability, Spinola said all the materials used in the display were recycled, reused, borrowed or donated.
