After a 4-0 win over the Sonoma Sol, the East Diablo Youth Soccer League’s Girls U10 Impact competitive soccer team claimed the first place trophy at the Mustang Soccer Tournament on Sept. 5. Facing the heat, the Impact were able to come out on top without using substitutes in the final match.

The Impact beat the Alameda Islanders 5-1 and the Mill Valley Soccer Club Rockers 2-1 on Sept. 4. The EDYSL Impact then topped the Mustang Revolution, 3-2, before advancing to the championship round.

“Even with obstructions facing them, they were not deterred,” team manager Peter Vega said in an e-mail. “No one ever complained about no subs, being tired, or too hot. This young team just loves soccer and wanted to play.”
