Oakley resident Dave Bauer, general manager of Ironhouse Sanitary District until his retirement in 2005, passed away at the age of 53 on Aug. 23 in Yosemite National Park.

Dave was born in Pittsburg on March 30, 1957 and resided in East County his entire life. He lived in Antioch for 30 years until moving to Oakley in 1987.

Dave was a man of many talents and hobbies and was always tinkering with something. He loved being outdoors, especially in the mountains or out on the water. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling in the RV, country music, driving tractors and his Corvette, but most of all enjoyed spending time with friends and family.

Dave is survived by his loving wife, Cynthia Bauer of Oakley; adoring daughter, Jennifer Painter (Warren); caring sons, David Eric Bauer, Jason Bauer (Meghann), George Andelin Jr. (Kim) and Ryan Andelin (Monica). He was Papa Extraordinaire to Shelby, Jessica, David Dennis, Nicole, Samantha, Logan, Mason, Haley, Joshua and Kaylin. Dave was a loving brother to Melanie Allen (Chris), Monica Henley (Joe), Marilyn Burk (Tim) and Chris Bauer, and was Uncle Dave to numerous nieces and nephews.

Dave was a loyal and thoughtful friend to many. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

A Celebration of Dave’s Life will be held Saturday, Sept. 25 at 3 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 1360 E. Tregallas Road in Antioch.
