Editor:

My name is Heather Partida and I am running for the Brentwood Elementary School Board.

I graduated from UC Davis with a degree in political science and work as the executive assistant to the superintendent of the Oakley school district. I have two daughters who attend school in Brentwood and we absolutely love it. I have regularly volunteered in their classrooms and am active with the parents’ club.

The wonderful teachers we have encountered have given the gift of reading and the joy of learning to my children. The Brentwood district has provided so much for my family and I am ready to step forward and give back. As parents, our kids are directly impacted by every program cut or position lost. More of us should be involved in the decisions that directly impact our families.

I look forward to providing a voice for parents in that decision-making process. I invite you to learn more about me at www.heatherpartida.com. If elected, I can assure you that I will take a top-down strategy when balancing the district budget. I will not vote for raises while cuts are being made.

I want to get the word out to parents about making sure their kids are at school every day and letting them know how costly it is when kids miss school for vacations.

The Brentwood board should really be an active part of our community, and I would like to bridge that gap for all of us. I am eager, qualified and asking for your vote.

Heather Partida, Brentwood
