A member of the California State Parks construction unit heads into the John Marsh Stone House on Monday to begin the $790,000 stabilization of the 158-year-old sandstone mansion in Marsh Creek State Park near Brentwood.

The 120-day project will include the installation of steel studs and construction foam, which will anchor in a new foundation behind the building’s exterior walls to prevent further deterioration.
