The parrot has been captured! According to social media posts over the weekend, the blue and gold macaw that took up residency in a Brentwood resident’s backyard was lured into a cage with food and patience. The parrot is now on its way to a local veterinarian to see if it is micro-chipped, so it can be reunited with its owner.

The manager of Skipolini’s Pizza posted on social-media pages that he is currently looking to hire bright kids who have a good head on their shoulders. According to his post, applications can be sent through the Skipolini’s website, or resumes can be dropped off at their Antioch location at 901 Fitzuren Road. Interviews will take place in the next two weeks, and he is hoping to have a lot of good candidates to choose from. So, work on those resumes, kids!

Speaking of restaurants, American Heroes Smokehouse will open a location in Brentwood in the near future and hire for a variety of positions. American Heroes Smokehouse is veteran-owned and -operated and encourages vets to apply. According to the restaurant website and social posts, they are committed to hiring veterans and providing opportunities for employees to achieve their full potential. Resumes can be sent to heroessmokehouse@gmail.com. This will be the first California location for the restaurant.

If you are getting hungry reading about restaurants, perhaps you should secure your ticket to the upcoming Taste of Discovery Bay taking place at Campos Vineyards in Byron on April 7. A Facebook event has been posted by the Discovery Bay Chamber and local interest is high. This event includes tasting foods from different restaurants, caterers and beverage vendors throughout Byron, Discovery Bay, Brentwood and surrounding areas! There will be several vendors with tastes for you to choose from and live music by the band NOVA. It should be a fun and fulfilling day.
