Brentwood Library’s StoryWalk program is underway now through Oct. 1, with pages from the picture book, “Monkey Truck,” by Michael Slack, posted around downtown. The story follows “Monkey Truck,” as he zooms through the jungle, be sure to say hi when you read the page at The Press!

Brentwood’s 14th-annual City Read has left the gates, running through Oct. 23. The community’s book is “Queen Sugar,” by Natalie Baszile. The fiction story centers on a mother-daughter pair, who move to Louisiana from Los Angeles after inheriting a sugarcane plantation.
