With Christmas right around the corner, now is a great time to take an inventory of your loved one’s jewelry box.
With so many options for holiday gift giving, the traditional and timeless choice of jewelry has always been the gift that takes a woman’s breath away. Who doesn’t love glimmer on their fingers, or something shimmery that will capture everyone’s eye on a special evening out?
Likewise, gifts like watches are not only a great sentimental gift for men who will literally wear their heart on the end of their sleeve, but they can also be family heirlooms that are passed down from father to son.
“Jewelry is a special gift because the person buying it goes out of their way to find something special,” said Andrea Balderrama, a Brentwood resident. “It shows that there is love and thought in selecting it, and whenever I wear the gift, I remember that love and thought.”
Buying beautiful jewelry is simple at K and Co. Family Jewelers, Brentwood’s premier source for engagement rings. Walking into their showroom, customers will find the selection and quality seen in stores like Tiffany’s or Bailey Banks and Biddle, matched with the warmth of a local, family-owned store.
The local jeweler also has competitive prices, proving that you don’t have to shop online or at wholesale outlet stores to find reasonable pricing on jewelry.
Shopping for jewelry for people you love should be an elegant and romantic experience, during which you spend time with a knowledgeable jeweler until you find the perfect match.
“As a jeweler who makes pieces himself, I love the intricacies of vintage pieces, with their hand engraving and detailed paved settings, as well as contemporary pieces that are filled with fabricated design features hugging their precious sparkling gemstones,” said Richard Neciuk, owner of K and Co. Family Jewelers.
Owners Richard and Katrina Neciuk opened K and Co. Family Jewelers in the heart of downtown Brentwood on July 18.
Richard comes from a family of jewelers. The Neciuk family began working in the jewelry and watch industry in the 1950s, in South America. Richard grew up watching his father, who owned a jewelry store in San Francisco, sitting at his workbench disassembling watches and bringing them back to life.
“It was there that I got my passion for the business and my desire to create works of art using metals and sparkly stones,” said Richard.
Richard not only attended school studying business, but also entered a European-style jewelry apprenticeship program, learning the trade from the bottom to the top. After nearly three years of this program, Richard also took specialized courses at The Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts in San Francisco, a professional jewelry school where master craftsmen and craftswomen pass on their skills and knowledge to students at all levels.
The culmination of a rich history in the jewelry business with his education specializing in the intricacies of jewelry making, design and repair, led Richard to manage several successful jewelry businesses before he and his wife Katrina decided to open their own store.
Featured items in the store this season consist of both classic and contemporary pieces, as well as customized jewelry.
Their relationship with designer lines allows them to customize certain pieces according to a client’s input, creating unique, one-of-a-kind pieces from a mainstream designer.
Some of the current specialty items Richard is most excited about are engagement rings for any young man looking to propose this holiday season.
