Runners looking to start 2019 on the right foot are invited to participate in the Rotary Club of Brentwood’s inaugural New Year’s Day 5K run.

The event will be held rain or shine at Veterans Park, 3841 Balfour Road, in Brentwood, from 9 a.m. to noon, Tuesday, Jan. 1. This new community fundraiser will support scholarships to youth and nonprofit organizations.

“Rotary’s purpose is to give more dollars back to the community, so we are always looking for ways to better serve the community, and I can’t think of a better way to start the year off with a bang,” said Olga Vidriales, event organizer.

Participants are invited to stick around after the run for a pancake breakfast, live music and a variety of vendor booths.

The deadline for registration is Dec. 31. Registration packets can be picked up at one of the following locations:

• Intero Realty, 651 First St., Brentwood; Friday, Dec. 28, from 2 to 5 p.m.

• Brentwood Outdoor Living, 6061 G Lone Tree Way, Brentwood; Saturday, Dec. 29, from noon to 3 p.m.

Included in registration are a custom dri-fit race T-shirt (for the first 250 registrants) and a participant medal (for the first 100 registrants).

Race fees are $40 for adults 18 and up, $25 for children ages 10 to 17, and $20 for children ages 4 to 9.
