St. Vincent de Paul of Contra Costa County, (SVdP), is marking 55 years of providing anti-poverty programs in the county with a public celebration on Saturday, June 29. The event begins at 5 p.m. and is located at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 1101 Keanevy Ct. in Walnut Creek.
For over 55 years, St. Vincent de Paul has provided direct services from their Family Resource Center in Pittsburg and in 29 parish-based branches in Contra Costa County. In 2018, SVdP distributed over $970,00 of direct financial aid, and $1.5m of in-kind aid, to residents of the county.
St. Vincent de Paul of Contra Costa County offers a density of services at the SVdP Family Resource Center in Pittsburg, three Thrift Stores, and 29 church-bases branches. The core service SVdP provides is the “Home Visit” where SVdP’s trained volunteers, “Vincentians”, respond to inquiries for help. They visit with clients-in-need in a face-to-face encounter to fully understand the full need and respond with a comprehensive complement of services.
