American COVID-19 test seekers will soon receive a dose of relief through the federal government.
The Biden Administration announced today that Americans will be able to order four free COVID-19 tests per residential address online or over the phone, beginning Wednesday, Jan. 19.
The tests can be ordered at COVIDTests.gov, and will ship, free of charge, within seven to 12 days of ordering, according to a news release.
The phone number, which can be used for ordering tests beginning Jan. 19, was not immediately released.
The Biden Administration announced Friday it is buying one billion tests to facilitate the program, with half available beginning Jan. 19.
“Testing is an important tool to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19,” the Biden Administration said in the release. “Public health experts and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend that Americans use at-home tests if they begin to have symptoms, at least five days after coming in close contact with someone who has COVID-19, or are gathering indoors with a group of people who are at risk of severe disease or unvaccinated.”
COVIDTests.gov was live Friday, but ordering was not yet possible
