A 30-year-old Oakland man was arrested by Anticoh police today after briefly holding a 21-year-old woman and a 3-year-old against their will.
Police took the suspect, Lamar Harris, into custody shortly after 10:20 a.m. at a residence in the 100 block of East 7th Street after the Antioch Police Department's Crisis Intervention Team deescalated the situation by contacting Harris via telephone and pursuading him to surrender peacefully, police said.
The 21-year-old woman and 3-year-old child were unharmed.
Police were initally called to the residnce on reports of a domestic violence incident, police said. Officers learned Harris was holding the 21-year-old and 3-year-old against their will and was also wanted by the Oakland Police Department for undisclosed reasons.
Harris barricated himself inside the residence with the 21 and 3-year-olds inside as officers attempted to contact him, before he decided to surrender, police said.
Harris was later booked into Martinez Detention Center on unspecified charges.
