The Brentwood Regional Community Chest (BRCC) is gearing up for their annual Holiday Food and Toy Basket program, scheduled for Dec.19, and registration is happening this month.

Each year, the BRCC provides holiday meals and toys to more than 500 local families. Starting the second week of November, barrels and bins will be dropped off throughout East County for donations of non-perishable food items and new toys. Barrels and bins will be located at local banks, schools, post offices and businesses.

Additionally, donations are always needed and welcome. Monetary donations can be mailed to Brentwood Regional Community Chest, PO Box 845,   Brentwood, 94513.

Pre-registration for families in need is required, as are valid identification and proof of residency. Registration dates at the Brentwood Senior Center, located at 193 Griffith Lane, in Brentwood, are scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 17, from 6 to 8 p.m.; Friday, Nov. 20, from 3 to 5 p.m.; Tuesday, Nov. 24, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 5, from 9 to 11 a.m.; and Thursday, Dec. 10, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
