Market stabbing

Update: 11:00 p.m. On May 27.

Brentwood police announced Friday night they have arrested 20-year-old Brentwood resident Marco Salazar in connection to the stabbing earlier Friday.

Salazar was taken into custody without incident, police said.

He will be booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on suspicion of attempted murder.

A 33-year-old man was stabbed this afternoon outside a Brentwood market. The suspect is still at large.

According to a Brentwood Police Department press release, the incident occurred at the La Charrita Market on Brentwood Blvd, at 1:30 p.m., on Friday, May 27. Officers arrived on the scene and found a Hispanic male with a stab wound to the back. The victim was exiting the store when he was attacked and stabbed. The suspect, believed to be between 18-23 years old, followed the victim out of the store, and was described as wearing a red hat, white t-shirt and black shorts. He was also described as carrying a black sling-style backpack and fled on foot.

The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Based on a preliminary investigation, the Brentwood police believe the incident may have been gang-related.
