"Corn Country,” as dubbed during the Lions’ run to the state championship, will unite in celebration Wednesday night to honor the winning Liberty football team.
The rally and celebration will kick off at 5:15 p.m. at City Park in downtown Brentwood.
The Lions pulled off a thrilling come-from-behind 19-17 victory over Chatworth’s Sierra Canyon High School on Dec. 15 to win its first state title in its 116-year history.
“The support that the community has given Liberty throughout this two-year run has been phenomenal,” said Eric Volta, Liberty Union High School District superintendent. “This rally will allow everyone in the Liberty community the chance to celebrate this fantastic accomplishment. The Liberty Football Team has set a new bar for not only our athletic teams but all of our programs. I am excited to see what the future holds as a result of the Lions breaking through another threshold.”
