The Discovery Bay Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors is seeking individuals interested in serving as volunteer chamber board members.
Board services include attending monthly meetings the second Tuesday of each month, attending monthly mixers, actively participating on at least one committee and attending and assisting with chamber events.
Characteristics sought in chamber board members include proven performance - a solid track record of contributing to the success of programs, events or projects; commitment - a demonstrated commitment to the organization’s mission and goals; time to serve - the ability to participate fully in chamber activities, prepare for meetings and serve constructively on committees; understanding of team work - well-developed interpersonal and communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work in a team environment; sound judgment and integrity - an ability to tackle difficult issues by letting facts and ethics overcome emotional or personal responses, and the ability to make decisions that may not be popular with members, elected officials or community members; ability to subordinate special interests - chamber leadership may require subordinating personal interests for the greater good of the chamber; strategic thinking - the ability to understand the community, the chamber and relationships, and to integrate those elements into a coherent plan and strategy.
