The Antioch man who police believe died after detonating an improvised explosive device last week in Antioch has been identified as 61-year-old Frank Trout, police said in a news release.

Antioch police, responding to reports of a person down on the ground in the area of West 17th and F streets at 7:32 a.m. on Jan. 31, found Trout dead following a self-inflicted detonation of an improvised explosive device, police said.

Police said Trout, who appeared to have an improvised explosive device when he was discovered, suffered “severe trauma and was unresponsive.”
