Registrar of Voters, Joseph E. Canciamilla, announced recently that Monday, March 2, is the voter registration deadline for the special primary election on March 17.
New voters must register and anyone who has moved or had a name change must reregister. Voters may register online at www.sos.ca.gov/elections/register-to-vote/.
Voters may also obtain registration forms at government offices including city or county offices and DMV locations. The completed form must be delivered to the Contra Costa County Elections Office, at 555 Escobar St., in Martinez, no later than 5 p.m., on March 2, or be postmarked by March 2.
Voters must be U.S. citizens who will be at least 18 years old by March 17, and not be imprisoned or on parole for the conviction of a felony. Anyone who becomes a newly naturalized citizen after the March 2 deadline may register and vote between March 3 and March 17. New citizens may register at the elections office in Martinez, and must present his or her certificate of naturalization.
