Dr. Martin K. Elliott, 90, of Brentwood passed away on Sept. 4 after a valiant fight for several weeks at the VA Hospital in Palo Alto.
He was the loving husband of Mary Anne Elliott (who preceded him in death on June 14, 2017). He is survived by five of his kids, Douglas Elliott, Andrea Gutierrez, Cindy DeSilva, Kandy Aldana and Daniel Elliott; 11 grandkids; two great-grandkids; and his nephew, Sam Skraly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Naomi Kaplan; his sister, Ruth Skraly; and his daughter, Erica Wendy Elliott.
Dr. Elliott was a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy who earned a bachelor’s degree in actuarial math, a master’s degree in finite math, and a Ph.D. in microwave engineering. He was an active member of the American Legion Post 202 and the Kiwanis Club. He worked as an entrepreneur, engineer, scientist and inventor who held several patents. He enjoyed inspiring others to discover the joy of solving problems as a math coach, community college and high school math teacher. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
