Rhonda Lee Kathain (Walker)

Rhonda Lee Kathain (Walker), 60, of Brentwood, CA, went home to be with the Lord, and passed away on April 15, 2021.

Rhonda was born in Oakland, CA, to Lova “Kaye” and James “Bud” Walker on October 14, 1960. Rhonda grew up in Fremont, CA, next door to her lifelong love, Robert Kathain. The two were inseparable growing up and in middle school began dating.

In 1976, Rhonda and her family moved to Brentwood, CA. Rhonda and Robert’s bond could not be broken, and after graduating from Liberty High School (1978), Rhonda returned to Fremont to be with her love, Robert. They were married two weeks later, on June 24, 1978. Rhonda and Robert’s immense love for each other during their 42-year marriage will leave a lasting impression on all who knew them.

Rhonda and Robert moved back to Brentwood in 1989, where they raised their three boys: Robert, Ryan and Riley.

In 1993, Rhonda began her career with the Brentwood Union School District, where she selflessly served the students, staff and families of the various schools she worked for. Rhonda worked for Krey Elementary School for the last 17 years, where she was able to see her five oldest grandchildren attend. Rhonda will be remembered by staff, students and parents as having an ever-present smile and loving spirit.

Rhonda was also an active member of Fellowship Church (Antioch). She had a faithful and loving heart, which was evident in her selfless devotion to the Lord, her church and her community.

Most would say that one of Rhonda’s biggest joys in life was her eight grandchildren and being together as a family. Her grandchildren will forever miss and have lasting memories of their “Mimi.”

Rhonda is preceded in her death by her father, James Walker.

Rhonda is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Robert Kathain; her children, Robert, Ryan and Riley, all of Brentwood; daughters-in-law, Natalie, Alyssa and Tyan; sister, Deana Lewis (Mark Lewis), of Sacramento; mother, Lova Walker (Hammett); father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert “Bob” and Ortencia Kathain; and eight grandchildren, Jackson, Ryder, Kamdyn, Kade, Adalynn, Mia, Brayden and Makenna.

The Kathain family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation and gratitude to all friends, family and coworkers who have supported them in various ways during this difficult time.
