Treva Black, age 61, passed peacefully at home in Brentwood with family by her side and entered into the Lord’s presence on July 29.
She was born July 20, 1957, in Bakersfield, California, and raised in Chowchilla, California, where she graduated from Chowchilla High School. Treva graduated from Stanislaus State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration.
She was a financial advisor for over 30 years, most recently as co-owner of Apex Securities and Asset Management, which was selected as business of the year for 2016 by the Brentwood Chamber of Commerce. Treva was a member and past president of the Soroptimist International of the Delta. She also was a member of the Brentwood Chamber of Commerce. She was devoted to sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ and over the years served faithfully at Mariner’s Discovery Church in several positions, including deacon, member of the board of directors, women’s ministry leader, events coordinator, children’s church leader and teacher. In recent months, she attended Brentwood Neighborhood Church. She believed in supporting and volunteering for local organizations such as Relay for Life, Village Resource Center, One Day at a Time, Brentwood Community Chest, Some Gave All – The Joey Graves Foundation and the Patriot Jet Team Foundation.
Treva leaves behind her loving husband of 27 years, Gary Dobberpuhl; stepchildren, Jill (Patrick) and Troy (Brittnee); grandchildren, Carter, Ellie and Enslee Rose (due in January 2019); sister, Sharlet; brother, John (Mandy); and many precious aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Treva enjoyed life to the fullest, loved all her clients and touched so many people she came into contact with. Her infectious smile and great sense of humor will be greatly missed.
Her Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, Sept. 8, at noon, at the Campos Family Vineyards, 3501 Byer Road, in Byron. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made in Treva’s name to the American Cancer Society of the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
