Vincent Pastor Jr. died peacefully on Aug. 23 with love and good thoughts surrounding him.
He was born on May 25,1935 at his family home in Knightsen, California. The ninth of ten children born to Angela and Vincent Pastor.
Vince left school his sophomore year at Liberty Union High School to focus on farming and produce delivery entrepreneurial activities. One of his favorite stories involved walking into the new car dealership at 15 and paying cash for a truck he wasn’t legally old enough to drive.
To help support his growing family, he worked nights at Fibreboard in Antioch from the 1950s to 1970s. From humble beginnings and through hard work and perseverance, he bought a ranch with his brother, Robert Pastor, and farmed until his retirement in the late 1990s.
He is loved and survived by his wife, Sue; sister, Angela Pastor Wilson; son, Richard Pastor; daughters, Beverly Pastor Josse, Michelle Pastor Hargous and Julie Pastor Vasi; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many loved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Janette Jackson Pastor; his daughter, Sandra Pastor; his brothers, Victor, Frank and Robert; his sisters, Mary, Betty, Nellie, Lorraine and Christina; and his parents, Angela and Vincent Pastor.
Vince was admired for his ability to buy a tractor low and sell a tractor high, his storytelling, laughter and dance moves. He will always live within our hearts.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial on Sunday, Sept.16, at 10 a.m., at Brentwood Funeral Home, 839 First St., in Brentwood. Join us following the service for a Celebration of Life at the Knightsen Farm Bureau on the corner of Second Street and Delta Road in Knightsen.
