Editor: Did you know that the Rotary Club of Brentwood participates in an invaluable program called Rotary Home Team?

Through this partnership with COVIA and the Episcopal senior communities, the Rotary Club of Brentwood provides light home maintenance to seniors (age 60 and over) in our region.

“HOME” stands for Home Maintenance for the Elderly, and this free service includes assistance with small jobs such as changing light bulbs, batteries for smoke detectors, small plumbing adjustments and simple door, drawer, screen or latch fixes. The seniors in our community have found this program to be very beneficial, and the Rotarians who provide the service find it enormously rewarding and really enjoy meeting and helping our local seniors.

Our Home Team Coordinator, Tim Dahl, has done a great job leading our team of volunteers and organizing the Home Team’s efforts under the direction of our club’s president, Wes Olson, and the program liaison, past president Roger Strauss.

Dahl explains, “We want to find a way to enrich the lives of those in our community and leave them better than we found them.”

He also mentions that the outreach does not stop at light home maintenance alone. The Home Team further helps by connecting our local seniors with other important resources like Meals on Wheels, transportation options to the store or appointments and other above-and-beyond assistance that can significantly improve the quality of lives. Connecting and conversing with the seniors is really the most important part of this program.

To request service, all you need to do is call 888-204-5573 or complete our online form at rotaryhometeam.com/contact.asp to schedule a two-person team of Rotarians for a visit on a Saturday morning to assist with your light home maintenance. Provide your name, address, phone number and description of your need, and we will coordinate a date for you. It’s that easy!

We appreciate the great feedback that our Home Team has received from local seniors:

“Thank you so much! I don’t feel so helpless! Great guys.”

“You are a blessing to me (and) others. God bless! Thank you so much.”

“I’m very impressed.”

“Very competent.”

The Rotary Club of Brentwood is pleased to bring this important service to our community! Rotary is truly all about having fun and making a difference.
