Six-year-old Gabriella Yciano of Crosley Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy learned recently hard work pays off. She won first place at the Jiu-Jitsu By the Bay competition in Alameda by defeating three opponents in her category. Two of her victories came via arm locks.
She got interested in Jiu-Jitsu by hanging around the gym for two years, watching her two older sisters and then decided to follow in their footsteps. Soon she was begging to take classes herself and began training three days a week. She has been in three tournaments, and has gained lots of confidence and skill, leading up to her big tournament win.
