Standing proud

Brentwood’s Crosley Gracie Jiu-Jitsu student Tim Toon, 27, won the Rumble in the Redwoods martial arts tournament on Feb. 13, at De Anza Community College in Cupertino. Toon has been training for four years and this was the second-consecutive competition championship. Toon is a business owner and still manages to attend classes four or five times a week. Other gold medal winners from Brentwood’s Crosley Gracie Jiu-Jitsu were Kai Ford, Marcelino Eugenio, Bernard Figueroa and James Aguilar. The event, one of the most traditional martial arts tournaments in the Bay Area, featured divisions for children as young as 4 and adults up to the age of 50.
