Acts Senior Assistance is looking for volunteers to join its board of directors for next year and also seeking donations to help with their mission.

Acts Senior Assistance is a new 501(c)(3) registered public charity that has opened in Brentwood for the purpose of helping senior citizens get the care that they need but cannot afford. It is their mission to help seniors pay for in-home care, assisted living or memory care.

Acts Senior Assistance was founded by Brian and Judy Gibson of Brentwood, and they are currently forming their new board of directors and are starting to raise funds to help the elderly in East Contra Costa County. They hope to start awarding the first grants to seniors in the third quarter of 2022.

Care can be a burden on seniors and their families as Medicaid in California covers only skilled nursing care; it does not help with the cost of assisted living, memory care, or in-home care.

Thirty-seven percent of seniors over 65 will incur out-of-pocket, long-term care costs. Last year in America, 34.2 million people provided unpaid care to seniors at the expense of their own lives, statistics show.
